File to perform firmware update (version 4.89) of Playstation 3, offline. Follow the tutorial below to perform the procedure.
This update method can be used if your PS3 system is not connected to the Internet. Download the update file to your computer and save it to a USB storage device.
Copy the saved file to your PS3 system storage to update the system.
For the standard update procedure, follow the steps below.
The following items are required to perform the update:
Step 1: On the USB storage device, create a folder to save the update file.
Using a computer, create a folder called "PS3". Inside that folder, create another folder called "UPDATE".
Step 2: Save the file in the "UPDATE" folder you created in step 1.
Save the file with the filename "PS3UPDAT.PUP".
Step 3: Connect the USB storage device on which the update file was saved to your PS3 system and from the function screen select Settings > System Software Update. Follow the screens to complete the update.
If your PS3 system does not recognize the update file, please check that the folder and file names are correct. Enter folder and file names in single-byte characters, using capital letters.
