Q4OS 6.4

Linux distribution based on Debian focused on solid performance and low resource consumption.

Description

Q4OS is a Linux distribution based on Debian focused on solid performance and low resource consumption. The system has been developed to deliver speed even on old computers while maintaining stability and wide compatibility with Debian packages. The experience prioritizes efficiency, fast boot-up, and a clean environment for those who need to work without distractions.

The project uses the Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) as the main option, a lightweight desktop inspired by the old KDE 3.x. This choice offers a traditional and stable experience, valued by those who prefer a more straightforward routine without heavy effects. There is also support for KDE Plasma for those who want more modern features, allowing switching between styles according to hardware and preference.

Q4OS integrates its own tools that facilitate daily tasks, such as quick installers for popular applications and a post-installation assistant that helps you set up codecs, drivers, and additional components. This set reduces the time needed to get the system ready for use, benefiting those looking for immediate productivity.

The distribution adopts a conservative philosophy regarding updates, inherited from Debian Stable. This means a lower risk of unexpected failures and a consistent environment for the long term. For many, this approach represents operational security, especially on machines used for continuous work.

Q4OS also stands out for its lightweight nature on very old devices, capable of revitalizing computers that no longer cope well with modern systems. This feature allows users to make the most of hardware that would otherwise be discarded, maintaining acceptable performance for browsing, document editing, and other everyday tasks.
