Description
Account Profile Fixer is a tool developed to fix serious issues related to user profiles in Windows, without the need to reinstall or reset the operating system. This software can be useful when the user profile is corrupted and cannot be easily repaired, such as in cases where MS Edge does not work, Windows Store apps show errors, File Explorer does not display the start screen or the notification area, or when user login fails.
Key features:
- Repair of damaged user profiles: APF automates the process of creating a new user profile with the same name, profile directory, and privileges as the corrupted profile. Additionally, it moves all data to the new profile and deletes the old one, avoiding the need to manually transfer files and settings.
- Automated process: After selecting the account to be repaired, the user only needs to confirm a few privacy options (in the case of Windows 10 and 11), and the software does all the work, including deleting the damaged profile and automatically logging into the new profile created.
- Microsoft account conversion: If the account to be repaired is a Microsoft account, it will be converted to a local account. The user can continue to use the Microsoft account after the process, but the login password will be removed, which can be created again as needed.
- Customization options: During the repair, the user can choose whether to keep certain folders, such as %LocalAppData%\Packages and %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows, which are usually deleted in the process. By default, these folders are deleted to avoid transferring potentially corrupted data.
How it works:
- APF displays a list of users on the system, allowing the user to select the account to be repaired.
- After the selection, the software creates the new user profile with the data from the old one and automatically configures it.
- The software can be configured to delete or keep specific user data folders.
- The process is quick and eliminates the need to manually transfer data or recreate the profile manually, making it easier to recover a damaged operating system.
Notes:
- Security warnings: The software has a recent code-signing certificate, which may trigger a Smart Screen warning saying that the file is not commonly downloaded. The user should ignore the warning and proceed with the installation.
- Windows Store: After the repair, it may be necessary to reinstall some Windows Store applications.
