Earth Alerts
Application for Windows that allows monitoring, in almost real-time, various events of natural risks occurring around the world.
Description
Earth Alerts is a Windows application that allows you to monitor various natural risk events occurring around the world in near real-time. With it, you can track phenomena such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, tropical cyclones, wildfires, landslides, severe weather, and local meteorological conditions, all presented in a practical way through alert notifications, reports, and images.
The program utilizes online resources from reputable organizations, such as the National Weather Service (NWS), the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and the Smithsonian Institution, to collect up-to-date information about the activities that the Earth is currently exhibiting. To get started, simply select the types of natural events you want to monitor and the locations of interest. Earth Alerts then automatically fetches the most recent data from live feeds on the internet, organizing everything into detailed reports, maps, and images.
Among the features offered are visual and audio notifications on the desktop, email alerts with reports and images, and SMS/MMS messages to mobile devices with summaries of the most severe events, such as major earthquakes, tsunami alerts, volcanic eruptions, and tornadoes. It also integrates with Google Earth for high-resolution views of the chosen locations, in addition to providing basic weather information, such as NWS alerts, current conditions, forecasts, and radar/satellite images.
Perfect for those who are curious or need to track natural phenomena, Earth Alerts is a practical and informative tool, especially useful for residents or those interested in regions prone to natural disasters. Available to the public since 2005, the software is an independent project, created and maintained as a hobby by a single developer, which reflects its functional and straightforward nature.
