Copper Age Update in Minecraft Bedrock Edition (1.21.111)

The Copper Age update, released on September 30, 2025, introduces new copper-based elements, expanding crafting, decoration, and gameplay options in the Bedrock Edition. It focuses on tools, armor, and oxidizable blocks, allowing greater customization in builds and interactions with mobs.

Additions

Blocks:

  • Copper Bars: Created with 4 Copper Ingots in a square pattern.
  • Copper Chain: Combining Copper Nugget and Copper Ingot.
  • Copper Golem Statue (and oxidizable and waxed variants): Block form of the Copper Golem, which oxidizes over time and can be waxed. Allows pose alteration when interacted with and emits a redstone signal via comparator based on current pose. When using an axe on the non-oxidized and non-waxed version, it reverts to Copper Golem.
  • Copper Lantern: Made with Copper Nuggets around a Copper Torch.
  • Copper Torch: Combining Copper Nugget, Coal or Charcoal, and Stick.
  • Bookshelf (and wood variants like Oak, Birch, etc.): Decorative storage made of stripped logs. Allows storing up to 3 stacks of items, displaying them in front like item frames. When energized with redstone, connects slots to manage up to 9 items from the hotbar.
  • Copper Chest (and oxidizable and waxed variants).
  • Exposed Lightning Rod, Weathered, Oxidized, Waxed, and their variants.

Items:

  • Copper Horse Armor: Armor value 4, generated in loot like iron armor.
  • Copper Golem Spawn Egg.
  • Copper Tools: Sword, Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel, and Hoe.
  • Copper Armor: Helmet, Chestplate, Pants, and Boots.
  • Copper Nugget.

General:

  • Options in the menu for related settings.

Changes

Blocks:

  • Chests: Double chests now visually open when a Copper Golem accesses the second half.
  • Copper Door and Trapdoor: Recipe changed to 4 ingots instead of 6; the old one is now for Copper Bars.
  • Fire: Blocks like stone slab or wooden stairs now catch fire from fire explosions; glass also ignites from flint and steel or explosions.
  • Iron Chain: Renamed from “Chain” to differentiate from copper.
  • Lightning Rod: Now oxidizes like other copper blocks; all flash white when struck by lightning.
  • Wall: Prevents connection with crimson, warped fungi, and bamboo.

Items:

  • Copper armor and tools: Hostile mobs can spawn equipped and can pick up/use these items.
  • Dyes: Updated icons for greater visual cohesion, maintaining distinct shapes for accessibility.

Mobs:

  • Copper Golem: Upon fully oxidizing, transforms into Copper Golem Statue in a random pose, dropping carried items. Retains tag name. Does not carry items when leashed. Collision box reduced to fit through doors. Now queues near chests opened by players and looks at the target container. Allows placing decorative flowers by Iron Golems (removable with shears, drops when turning into a statue). Pathfinds through 1-block passages. Ignores invisible chests. Closes chests immediately when panicking.
  • Fox: Considers honey bottles as priority food.
  • Iron Golem: Occasionally plants decorative flowers on nearby Copper Golems.
  • Wolf: Does not trigger water shake if already shaking.

Gameplay:

  • Camera: Mount rotation lock applies to cameras with relative movement.

General:

  • Accessibility: Text-to-Speech support on wardrobe pages.
  • Mixing: Enabled for legacy chunks, fixing missing blocks in early biomes.
  • Experiments: Removed toggles "Drop 3 2025" and "Custom Biome".
  • Graphics: Volumetric fog settings optimized for PC; subsurface scattering support in particles; maximum render distance 28 on PC with Vibrant Visuals; selection wireframe thickness increased.
  • Panorama: Updated for scene with Copper Golems in a village.
  • UI: Adjustments to icons, buttons, and animations for consistency and correct resolution.
