PersistentWindows is a utility that maintains the positions and sizes of windows in Windows 7, 10, and 11, even after events that may change the monitor configuration, such as connecting or disconnecting external monitors, changes in resolution, or RDP reconnections. It automatically restores the desktop layout, including the position of the taskbar, to the last known monitor configuration.
Among its main features are support for remote desktop sessions, the ability to capture and save the desktop layout in formats such as liteDB and XML, and the possibility to create up to 36 snapshots for each display configuration. The software also includes commands to improve web navigation and supports the automatic restoration of windows after PC restarts.
To install, you should unzip the file in the desired folder and set up automatic startup via Task Scheduler or Startup Folder. PersistentWindows must be run with administrator privileges to restore windows with elevated privileges.
