ShowWhatProcessLocksFile is a simple and effective tool that identifies which processes are locking a specific file or folder in Windows. Inspired by the functionality of PowerToys File Locksmith, this utility offers a faster and lighter alternative, with support for older versions of Windows and no need for administrator rights for installation.
Download the program:

Install the program:
After downloading, open the file and run the installer. It will automatically install the program in the correct folder and add a new option to the menu that appears when you right-click on files or folders.
Find out what is locking a file or folder:
Right-click on the file or folder you want to check.
In the menu that appears, choose the option “Show what locks this file”.
A window will open showing which programs or processes are using the file or folder.
Terminate a process (if necessary):
If you want to release the file or folder, select the process from the list that appeared, right-click on it and choose the option to terminate.
Uninstall the program (if desired):
If you no longer want to use the program, go to the Control Panel of Windows, choose "Programs and Features", find ShowWhatProcessLocksFile in the list and click Uninstall. This will remove the program and the option that was added to the context menu.
